Effect of Al2O3 on the Tensile and Impact Strength of Flax/Unsaturated Polyester Composite with Emphasis on Automobile Body Applications

This study has endeavored to develop an Al2O3-filled natural fiber reinforced polymer composite which is intended substitute the most widely used synthetic E-glass material. To attain desired objective of work, 0, 5, 10, and 15 wt% chopped flax/unsaturated polyester resin have been developed by conventional hand-lay-up method followed a compression molding process. Consequently, characterization mechanical property tests are conducted based on ASTM standard. The results revealed that both tensile impact strength properties base all affected due inclusion variation content Al2O3 in 25 loading cases. It noticed 39.06% increase ultimate 25/UPR-5 composition gained. effect also analyzed 45% observed 15/UPR-10 composition. findings witnessed newly can be applied make automotive parts such as mud guard engine undercover.
